Homemade play dough (not edible)

I’ve been wanting to make homemade play dough and we finally made it.  Here is an easy recipe I found and I’ve added a picture tutorial.
Playdough
Ingredients
  • 1 cup white flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 cup water
  • food coloring
These are the ingredients listed, but I cut the recipe in 1/2.
Directions (along with numbered pictures above)
  1. Gather your ingredients
  2. Mix first four ingredients in a pan
  3. Add water and mix well.  Cook over medium heat and stir constantly for 3 –5 minutes.
  4. Dough will become difficult to stir and get clumpy.  (I only had to heat it for a minute by the time it became clumpy)
  5. Remove from the stove and knead for about 5 minutes.  Add food coloring during the kneading process.
  6. Store the play dough in covered plastic containers or plastic sandwich bags.
Then…. have fun!

It was really easy and again, I found the recipe here: http://mommyfootprint.com/the-perfect-home-made-play-dough-recipe/

I've linked this to some of these parties.

  2. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I used to make playdough all the time when I was a kid. I loved it. My mom would supervise and we had all these different colors, plus it didn't smell like the store bought playdough.
